Hey Brian, what’s with the headphones? Why are you wearing them all the time. If you’re truly hearing impaired there are other much less obvious hearing aids. Wearing your headphones all the time gives the impression that you’re unapproachable and want to tune everybody out. Are you really like that? Just asking.
I am a Realtor and I have been fighting the “Zillow” monster for years and as a matter of fact have been trying to talk our association and it’s members out of any type of syndication for the exact reasons you outlined. After battling this issue for so many years, I have just given up! With so many new agents coming on board that are all fighting to get a buyer and no knowledge of how things used to be before syndication, they all want these platforms because that’s where they think leads come from! Pay for our own leads because we gave away our data. This business has changed forever, and I predicted all of what is happening over 10 years ago with a paper I wrote to our association leadership. EVERYTHING I predicted has come true and now we are all paying the price to keep our “friends”, ZTR and now others in business and getting rich. I, for one, feel defeated.
Me too… their answer? (This was many, many years ago…) too late, the horse is out of the barn. I kid you not. And when I forwarded this type of info, their reply most recently? Good to hear from you again Mike. I kid you not. And if I told you their position now, you would just shake your heading unbelieving as I do … the good news for me? I’m virtually retired after 40 years so it’s no sweat off my back, but I worked 30 years to make my Associations better and all for not… sad, in oh so many ways…
Zestimate was wrong on my listing because it was based on zero square foot of the house. We don’t have an appraisal and the county appraisal district has a wrong floor plan with wrong square foot. I want them to correct their Zestimate or take my listing off their website. Zillow changed the square foot to a similar house but didn’t change the Zestimate, marked it as off market with all the wrong information still on their website. I told them that is knowingly misleading the public and want to communicate with a supervisor. This is the reply I got: “We have escalated your concern to the appropriate team for further handling” Its been a month and no further communication form them. Any advise would be appreciated.
I have a customer (a builder) who I sell a lot of their new homes for them. I do give them a discount on my end of the commission. But if I find the buyer I make more on my commissions. I asked if it would be OK to not list the property on the MLS and try selling it on Zillow, Trulia and other national websites. They agreed to a 2 week time period. After 2 weeks I got one call from my yard sign. That’s it!! Not one call from Zillow and the like. I listed it on the MLS and by end of day I had 4 scheduled showings and we went to contract in 14 days. That’s how I explain to my customers that I do not list my properties on Zillow. If a customer insists, I have to. I try very hard to educate everyone on the damage Zillow and others do to our communities. Zillow can stick it were the sun doesn’t shine!!!
