George Lucas has decided to introduce some low income housing into the richest, whitest, county in the country.  They’re not digging the idea.

"The Marin County Death Star Has Arrived"

  1. The problem is not that Marin County is white, the problem is that Government at all levels has put too many barriers to the expansion of businesses of all types. The whole concept of low income housing puts artificial barriers to all buyers who want to buy/rent a home. And, to make the statement that those buyers/renters will be "brown" is a racist assumption. What a state we have reached!

"Brown people" really? I like Rosemary find that to be a racist assumption. In my many years in the mortgage business I've come across many low income white people. It's comments like that, that divide us rather than unite us in this country. Maybe some diversity training is in order. Good for George Lucas, affordability is real problem in the Seattle area as well.

I guess the mystery of sustainable housing, AFFH and Mega Data Base has risen from the graves of DENIAL.
Not like this topic wasn’t addressed just about 5 years ago.

Not like Sustainable Housing, Mega Data and the AFFH didn’t send up Red flags going on 5 years now…Welcome to the World of Denial.

Love your shows. I like to start my day off with a cup of coffee and to watch your show,
then off to the expired listings. Keep up the good work and us laughing!
    Happy New Year de WA7UPM.

Look how fast the white folks jump to the race card, see how good I am bench warmers. What if the guys meant surfer dudes or babes who are golden brown. What if they meant the Alaskan show The Browns who say Brown Town. What if they said what said on Sons of Anarchy. Give it a break and take your flaming cross of nonsense to someone else’s front lawn. ( no punt intended to baby Jesus or the kkk )

  9. Marc Emrich says:

Not to get off subject, but at the beginning of today's post you said people were asking you what a 4506T was. Who the heck that watches you guys would not know what a 4506T is. Do you get people asking what a 1003 is?

  10. Living in Marin County, I was saddened that George Lucas was blocked from expanding his film studio! I thought it would be a great thing for Marin County. I wish Mr. Lucas grand success with the affordable housing project and look forward to seeing it unfold. By the way, as I understand it, "affordable housing" is for those who qualify, no matter their heritage…

  11. Thank you for your funny and informative short videos, as well as your bravery in welcoming comments. Obviously, you can't please everyone.

Can’t blame Lucas for giving the finger to Marin officials. He’s owner the ranch since the 70’s and they’ve shot down every proposal he has ever made. THey will try the same with this one, but I suspect they won’t succeed. There is already HUD Sec 8 rentals in Marin. Our housekeeper and long time friend live in one. It took 10 years on the waiting list, as it would today. She would buy, but has no options in Marin today. Can’t go elsewhere – she doesn’t drive. So cudo’s to Lucas for having the balls to move forward. Of course, having the cash is a plus as well. County can’t drag in HUD or any other agent of the underserved to muddy the waters.
