Thank you both for something to think about. I am really new to this game we call “Real” Estate, was in Human Resources, Affirmative Action for over 10 years before this (family business) so it is always a blessing to get tips. I had a really perfect day because I was also able to attend Brian’s informational and inspiring lecture in “Victorville”, CA. We really appreciate the time you were able to give to all of us and I must say my mind is swimming with ideas. Thank goodness for sponsors because they bring us some truly amazing information to use. If you have a chance “Google” Hitt Apple Valley CA and see the many venues my family has to offer. To say we are diverse is an understatement. I am now trying to incorporate everything I heard today for all our “Venues”. Look for us because we will be coming in with a big “Hitt”. ” Happy Trails” to you as you travel our Great United States. I look forward to your daily informational blogs/videos.
Barry, I had the same problem – all the programs are so massive and can also be expensive. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that proved too cumbersome to really use. I did a search on Active Rain and found reviews of a program called Money Ledger. You can test it out for free but I purchased right away because it was exactly what I was looking for. You can input daily, it breaks down business and personal expenses etc. http://www.moneyledger.com I have no connection with them, but know your frustation and wanted to make the recommendation.
Something that I really need help with is bookeeping and taxes. I’m really bad about filing and saving receipts etc. Is there a magic time saving program where I can enter my expenses, mileage, income on a daily basis? Most programs seem to be way too big.
There’s no easy way to deal with the bookkeeping itself, however, since I hate the paper clutter, I use my smartphone to photograph all my receipts.
Eliminating paper clutter (all my transactions are paperless too) lets me feel calmer and more organized. It actually reduces my stress level significantly not to see piles of files on my desk.
And having all my client files in the cloud and available no matter where I am is a huge time-saver too!
One thing we all do everyday that we end up feeling guilty about each day is taking Personal Time (PT) or MT (Me Time) or what I like to call SAT (Screw Around Time). I have a few hours of SAT time scheduled into my day, so while I am SATting around I’m not felling guilty that I should be doing something else… and this allows me to focus on task when I’m actually working.
Side benefit … it makes the wife and kid a whole lot happier when they know they’re a thoughtful part of my day and they know when Daddy’s coming home to SAT around with them …
Great advice. My goal is 5 personal notes in the morning and 5 personal calls in the evening…..EVERYDAY! Somedays it’s only 2, somedays it’s 10 or 15. It has made a huge impact on my business. Writing those notes in the morning energizes me for the rest of the day. Before 8 AM I already have a feeling of accomplishment which improves my attitude for the nonsense that will come during the day. Thanks guys for the confirmation and hope people will actually DO THIS!!
Great post. I’m putting it into practice today.

Nice show today boys, thank you!
5-10 note cards a day before 8:30am…and a few phone calls for sure…
The reason GOD invented time was to keep everything from happening at once….
Great show. Good message to end the week with.
